Egypt proposes int'l meeting on Darfur

Egypt's proposal for holding an international conference on the troubled Sudanese province of Darfur would be coordinated with the UN and the countries concerned, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said yesterday.

UK urges Israel to end settlements building

BETHLEHEM (AFP) - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown yesterday called on Israel to stop settlements construction.Brown has also offered additional financial support and police training to the Palestinian government.

Iran warned of new sanctions

GENEVA (Reuters) - Major powers have given Iran two weeks to answer calls to rein in its nuclear programme or face tougher sanctions after talks ended in stalemate despite unprecedented US participation.
